Schedules
FactoryTalk AssetCentre allows you to schedule certain types of operations. The type of operations that can be scheduled are determined by what FactoryTalk capabilities you have purchased. Currently Disaster Recovery (which includes Device Monitor) is the only capability for which you can use the Schedule feature.
Multiple assets can be included in the same scheduled operation by creating a scheduled operation for a container. For example, one container may contain multiple controllers. Scheduling a backup operation for the container backs up all devices in that container in one operation.
You can send a summary report when a scheduled operation has completed that contains information including whether the operation has succeeded or failed. You can also send a more operation-specific report through an asset's scheduled operation properties.
Activation is required for scheduled devices.
Device Monitor
This operation is only available for Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 Controller assets that support and are configured for change detection. A Device Monitor - Change Detect schedule gets a list of changes from the controller log. This is less detailed than change information from the programming software, but it includes some information that the programming software cannot track, such as changes from program to run mode using the keyswitch.
When the Device Monitor schedule is active, the device is monitored. When a change is detected, change entries from the controller log are collected into a report.

Disaster Recovery
Use the Disaster Recovery capability to ensure quick and accurate file recovery by verifying your devices' program and configuration files against protected master files.
The Disaster Recovery capability provides two types of scheduled operations:
- Backup:Stores a backup copy of files associated with a device asset.
- Backup and Compare:Retrieves a copy of the files associated with a device asset and compares them to a master version. If differences are found, a new backup copy is stored and email messages with the results are sent. You can also choose to store the uploaded device files as the new master in Archive. You have control over various behaviors of a Backup and Compare (who receives emails, whether a backup is stored if differences are found, whether the uploaded device files become the new master, and so on.)
- Source Code Validation:Detects if a ControlLogix 5580, GuardLogix 5580, CompactLogix 5380, CompactLogix 5480, or Compact GuardLogix 5380 controller running version 34 and later firmware has been exploited using a vulnerability.
