Assets
includes:- Asset tree
- Archive workspace
The asset tree represents all assets of your plant that you want to control, back up, or monitor. You can view the properties of an element in the assets tree by selecting the
Properties
button. The archive workspace is used for version control that helps manage asset files. Use the archive workspace to keep secure copies of asset configuration files, pin versions as masters, track versions, and control file use so that only one user at a time can modify a file. The Archive capacity is limited by your SQL Server's capacity. Items stored in the Archive are limited to 2GB in size per version. It is a Microsoft SQL Server constraint.
Control version files
Manage changes with electronic workflow
FactoryTalk AssetCentre's Management of Change capability adds an additional security level by imposing an electronic workflow on the check-out and check-in processes.
Keep automation files securely archived
FactoryTalk AssetCentre Web Client uses Microsoft SQL Server to store archived files in a relational database. When you store assets in the archive workspace, you reduce your need of backup work and prevent the accidental deletion of asset data.
Keep an existing version available for use while development continues
Pin a version of a file that you want other users to use. Development can continue on that file and each revision is saved in the archive workspace. If another user retrieves the file by the get operation, they get the pinned version.
