Check out files and binders

Before modifying any file or binder, you must make it available for editing by retrieving a writable copy of the file or binder to C:\Users\<Signed-in User>\Downloads on your computer using Check Out. Use the Get operation to retrieve a read-only copy of the file or binder in your project while another user has checked it out.
Prerequisites
  • To check out files and binders, you must have the
    CheckOut - CheckIn
    permission for the asset.
    If the
CheckOut does not require MoC workflow
permission is denied, you must submit a check-out request and get approval from the configured workflow approvers.
To check out files or binders
  1. On
    Assets
, expand the asset tree, and then select a file, a binder, or an asset containing the files to check out.
If you check out an asset or binder, all files within the asset or binder will be checked out automatically.
  2. Select the
    Check Out
    button.
    If the
CheckOut does not require MoC workflow
permission is denied, you must submit a check-out request and get approval from the configured workflow approvers.
  3. Complete the
    Check out
    dialog.
  4. Select
    OK
    .
A checkmark next to the file or binder in the archive workspace indicates that the item is checked out.
    IMPORTANT:
Since the check-out process differs between the FactoryTalk AssetCentre desktop client and web client, if you check out a file or binder using FactoryTalk AssetCentre Web Client, you must use FactoryTalk AssetCentre Web Client to check it in.
