FactoryTalk View Site Edition

FactoryTalk® View Site Edition (SE)
consists of several pieces of software you can use to build automation applications. Depending on the particular software packages you purchased and installed, you will have one or more of these pieces of software.
  • FactoryTalk View Studio
    The design-time environment for
    FactoryTalk View
that provides the editors and tools you need to develop and test network distributed, network station, and local station human-machine interface (HMI) applications.
    FactoryTalk View Studio
contains editors for creating a complete HMI application, and software for testing the applications.
  • FactoryTalk View SE
    Client
For viewing and interacting at runtime with local station, network station and network distributed applications developed using
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    .
  • FactoryTalk View SE
    Server
Stores HMI project components (for example, graphic displays), and serves these components to clients using the
    FactoryTalk Directory
. The server also contains a database of tags and performs alarm detection and historical data management.
    The
    FactoryTalk View SE
Server has no user interface. Once installed, it runs as a set of headless (having no user interface) Windows services that supply information to clients when they request it. It must be installed on all computers that are going to host an HMI server.
  • FactoryTalk Directory
Provides a directory of services (for example,
    FactoryTalk View SE
servers or OPC servers) and names (for example, areas, tags, graphic displays, log models, and so on) to any computer on the network that participates in
    FactoryTalk View SE
    applications.
  • FactoryTalk Security
Authenticates user identities and authorizes user requests to access a FactoryTalk-enabled system. These security services are integrated into the
    FactoryTalk Directory
and are included as part of
    FactoryTalk Services Platform
    .
  • FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Configuration software for setting up
    FactoryTalk Directory
    services.
Use
FactoryTalk View Studio
to develop
FactoryTalk View SE
applications. Use the
FactoryTalk Administration Console
only to restore network distributed application archives and to set up computer accounts after upgrading
FactoryTalk Services Platform
.
For information about restoring network distributed applications, see
Deploy applications
in the
FactoryTalk View
Site Edition Installation
Guide
