FactoryTalk® View Site Edition (SE)
consists of several pieces of software you can use to build automation applications. Depending on the particular software packages you purchased and installed, you will have one or more of these pieces of software.- FactoryTalk View StudioThe design-time environment forFactoryTalk Viewthat provides the editors and tools you need to develop and test network distributed, network station, and local station human-machine interface (HMI) applications.FactoryTalk View Studiocontains editors for creating a complete HMI application, and software for testing the applications.
- FactoryTalk View SEClientFor viewing and interacting at runtime with local station, network station and network distributed applications developed usingFactoryTalk View Studio.
- FactoryTalk View SEServerStores HMI project components (for example, graphic displays), and serves these components to clients using theFactoryTalk Directory. The server also contains a database of tags and performs alarm detection and historical data management.TheFactoryTalk View SEServer has no user interface. Once installed, it runs as a set of headless (having no user interface) Windows services that supply information to clients when they request it. It must be installed on all computers that are going to host an HMI server.
- FactoryTalk DirectoryProvides a directory of services (for example,FactoryTalk View SEservers or OPC servers) and names (for example, areas, tags, graphic displays, log models, and so on) to any computer on the network that participates inFactoryTalk View SEapplications.
- FactoryTalk SecurityAuthenticates user identities and authorizes user requests to access a FactoryTalk-enabled system. These security services are integrated into theFactoryTalk Directoryand are included as part ofFactoryTalk Services Platform.
- FactoryTalk Administration ConsoleConfiguration software for setting upFactoryTalk Directoryservices.

applications. Use the FactoryTalk Administration Console
only to restore network distributed application archives and to set up computer accounts after upgrading FactoryTalk Services Platform
