Safety Programmable Controllers

CompactLogix 5370 Controllers

Our Bulletin 1769 CompactLogix™ 5370 Controllers are part of the Integrated Architecture® system. These controllers include integrated safety, and use the same programming software, network protocol, and information capabilities as all Logix controllers. This provides a common development environment for all control disciplines. Consistent tools and features help users to lower engineering investment costs, ease diagnostics and troubleshooting, and speed up time to market for small to mid-size applications.

Our safety I/O portfolio offers local, distributed and On-Machine™ options with a wide range of performance and connectivity attributes to help improve compliance and machine performance. Compact 5000™, FLEX 5000™ and ControlLogix® I/O largely share a common data structure and graphic user interface, which allows easy integration into any of these three platforms. This common programming and operation reduces the design time and allows for code reuse. Our Guard I/O™ safety modules include all the advantages of traditional distributed I/O. The mounting designs reduce wiring costs and startup time for machines and cells in safety systems.

Allen-Bradley® Guardmaster® smart safety devices that feature GuardLink technology deliver information, advanced functionality, and flexibility. This technology helps enhance safety and increase machine- and plant-wide efficiency.

GuardLink

Safety options can help reduce machine downtime and increase productivity. To help you protect both your personnel and equipment, a variety of PowerFlex® drives are available with safety features. The PowerFlex 525 AC drives include embedded Safe Torque-Off as a standard feature. Safe Torque-Off is an optional feature for the PowerFlex 40P, 70, 700H, 700S, and 750-Series AC drives, which also support Safe Speed Monitor functionality. Additionally, you can configure drives without a safety option using the MSR57P Safety Relay.

Safety Drives

Our Safety Servo Drive products are designed to help minimize downtime and reduce energy and production waste while helping improve machine operating efficiencies. The Kinetix® 300, 6000, 6200, 6500 and 7000 all feature built-in safety functionality. With Safe Torque-Off, a drive output is disabled to remove motor torque without removing power from the entire machine. Safe Speed Monitoring permits you to reduce and monitor the speed of your application to help allow an operator to safely perform some types of work without completely stopping the machine.

Safety Motor Control

Our Safety Motor Control products help reduce the risks associated with the operation and maintenance of electrical equipment. The CENTERLINE® ArcShield™ Arc-Resistant controller, and CENTERLINE 2500 and 2100 with ArcShield Motor Control Centers, provide rugged process control for applications requiring a higher level of personnel protection. Our ArmorStart® safety line of distributed motor controllers achieves Category 4 safety functionality while providing a safety solution integrated into your DeviceNet™ On-Machine™ safety installation. Our IEC safety contactors and control relays help protect personnel from unintended machine starts and loss of the safety function. The ElectroGuard® Safety Isolation system simplifies operator lockout/tagout procedures to help improve compliance and productivity.

Light Curtain Safety Devices

Safety light curtains are photoelectric presence sensors specifically designed to protect personnel from injuries related to hazardous machine motion. Light curtains offer optimal safety, yet they allow for greater productivity and are the more ergonomically sound solution when compared to mechanical guards. Safety Laser Scanners

Our SafeZone™ Safety Laser Scanners are compact devices that have switchable, configurable field sets (warning and safety). The Safety Configuration and Diagnostic (SCD) Windows®-based software, supplied with each scanner, simplifies the programming of the SafeZone Safety Laser Scanners. Hand Detection Safety Sensor

Our Guardmaster™ SC300 Hand Detection Safety Sensor is a compact safety sensor system which operates based on image processing technology. The safety sensing function is performed by a single image sensing device viewing a single two-dimensional image against a passive pattern as the background. The detection principle is based on an object of a certain resolution blocking the view of the pattern from the image-sensing device.

Safety Mats

Our Bulletin 440F MatGuard™ Safety Mats are pressure-sensitive safeguarding products that we designed to detect the presence of people on the sensing surfaces. These mats have two conductive hardened steel plates that are held apart by non-conductive compressible separators. We offer standard configurable and custom mats, each with edge trim options.

Safety Edge Profiles

Our Bulletin 440F Safedge™ Safety Edge Profiles come in three different cushion factors and two different materials. They have no rigid internal parts that can break through or cause fatigue failures after prolonged use.

Safety Relays

Safety Relays check and monitor a safety system and either allow the machine to start or execute commands to stop the machine. Single-function safety relays are the most economical solution for smaller machines where a dedicated logic device is needed to complete the safety function. Modular and configurable monitoring safety relays are preferred where a large and diverse number of safeguarding devices and minimal zone control are required.

Software Configurable Safety Relay

The Guardmaster® 440C-CR30 Software Configurable Safety Relay is flexible, cost-effective, and easy to use. This relay is ideal for applications requiring as many as ten dual-channel safety circuits and controlling as many as five output zones. You can configure this relay by selecting certified safety function blocks to rapidly build your applications. This relay is completely integrated with Allen-Bradley Logix controllers and can be configured using Studio 5000 Logix Designer® software or Connected Components Workbench software. The 440C-CR30 relay can share information with the control system through the optional EtherNet/IP plug in module which increases uptime and enables The Connected Enterprise.

MSR300 Series Modular Safety Relays

Our Bulletin MSR300 family of expandable modular safety relays handles larger, more complicated safety systems by allowing connection of multiple input modules to a single base unit. It offers a logic configuration with multiple inputs and the control of multiple independent outputs. The system supports up to 20 diverse inputs and can control up to 3 zones, performing simple function block logic configurations through rotary switch settings as opposed to software configuration.

Safety Limit Switches

Our Bulletin 440P Limit Switches family offers a full range of international-style solutions for both safety and standard sensing applications. This family of limit switches are available in four different body styles: 30 mm metal, 22 mm metal and plastic, and 15 mm plastic. These switches offer a broad selection of operator types, circuit arrangements, and connection options. The 440P is ideal for a wide variety of general purpose and safety guarding applications.

Our Single-function Safety Relays with Delayed Outputs are used in applications where power must be maintained for a fixed duration after an input signal is received. For example, driving a switch to maintain a guard door in the locked position for a fixed duration after a stop button is pressed.
