Set system policies

Set system policies to manage settings that apply across the entire
FactoryTalk
system. Policy settings are separate in the network directory and the local directory.
Navigate to
System

Policies
>
System Policies
to view and edit the following:
  • Badge Authorization
    Determines whether services can use the FactoryTalk Badge Logon function to access the
    FactoryTalk Directory
    .
  • Application Authorization
    Determines whether applications can access the
    FactoryTalk Directory
    .
  • FactoryTalk Diagnostics
    Determines whether to forward FactoryTalk Diagnostics messages from all FactoryTalk-enabled products to a Syslog collector.
  • User Rights Assignment
    Determines which users can perform system-wide actions, such as backing up and restoring the contents of the
    FactoryTalk Directory
    , changing the directory server computer, performing a manual switchover to a redundant server, and modifying the security authority identifier.
  • Live Data Policy
    Determines the default communications protocol for a distributed
    FactoryTalk
    system.
  • Web Token Authorization
    Authorizes the licensed third-party applications to acquire an application token.
  • SMTP Policy
    Defines the centralized SMTP server configuration used by FactoryTalk-enabled products to send email notifications.
  • Health Monitoring Policy
    Defines the parameters that the health monitoring service uses when determining if a network error occurred and how long to wait before switching to a standby server.
  • Audit Policy
    Defines which activities generate an audit message.
  • Security Policy
    Defines the security policies applied to
    FactoryTalk
    account, divided into these categories: account policy, computer policy, directory protection policy, password policy, and single sign-on policy. These policies do not apply to
    Windows
    -linked accounts. Define policies for
