Set system policies
Set system policies to manage settings that apply across the entire
FactoryTalk
system. Policy settings are separate in the network directory and the local directory.Navigate to
System
> Policies
> System Policies
to view and edit the following:- Badge AuthorizationDetermines whether services can use the FactoryTalk Badge Logon function to access theFactoryTalk Directory.
- Application AuthorizationDetermines whether applications can access theFactoryTalk Directory.
- FactoryTalk DiagnosticsDetermines whether to forward FactoryTalk Diagnostics messages from all FactoryTalk-enabled products to a Syslog collector.
- User Rights AssignmentDetermines which users can perform system-wide actions, such as backing up and restoring the contents of theFactoryTalk Directory, changing the directory server computer, performing a manual switchover to a redundant server, and modifying the security authority identifier.
- Live Data PolicyDetermines the default communications protocol for a distributedFactoryTalksystem.
- Web Token AuthorizationAuthorizes the licensed third-party applications to acquire an application token.
- SMTP PolicyDefines the centralized SMTP server configuration used by FactoryTalk-enabled products to send email notifications.
- Health Monitoring PolicyDefines the parameters that the health monitoring service uses when determining if a network error occurred and how long to wait before switching to a standby server.
- Audit PolicyDefines which activities generate an audit message.
- Security PolicyDefines the security policies applied toFactoryTalkaccount, divided into these categories: account policy, computer policy, directory protection policy, password policy, and single sign-on policy. These policies do not apply toWindows-linked accounts. Define policies forWindows-linked accounts inWindows.
