Configure SMTP policy

Configure the SMTP policy to use an SMTP server for sending email notifications from FactoryTalk-enabled software.
Prerequisites
Configure an SMTP server.
To configure the SMTP policy
  1. In FactoryTalk Administration Console or FactoryTalk View Studio
    Explorer
    , expand
    System > Policies > System Policies
    .
  2. Right-click
    SMTP Policy
    , and then select
    Properties
    .
  3. In
    SMTP Policy Properties
    , configure the following:
    1. SMTP server domain name or IP address.
    2. Port number. The default is 25.
    3. Select the authentication type used by the SMTP server.
    4. (optional) Sender's email address.
    5. Enable encrypted communication with the SMTP server.
  4. Test the connection by selecting
    Test SMTP
    .
  5. In
    Test Connection
    , enter a recipient's email address, and then select
    Test
    .
  6. Select
    OK
    .
