Forward FactoryTalk Diagnostics to a Syslog collector

Beginning with version 6.50.00, FactoryTalk Services support forwarding FactoryTalk Diagnostics from applications' using the network scope. Beginning with version 6.60.00, FactoryTalk Services support forwarding FactoryTalk Diagnostics from applications' using the local scope. Enable syslog to store FactoryTalk Diagnostics messages from FactoryTalk-enabled applications, such as FactoryTalk View Site Edition and Studio 5000 Logix Designer, to the Syslog collector. Syslog is disabled by default. You can also access syslog configuration via a computer’s or computer group’s
Diagnostics
tab.
Syslog supports FactoryTalk network and local directories based on the following rules.

To forward FactoryTalk Diagnostics to a Syslog collector
  1. In the FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    pane, go to
    System > Policies > System Policies > FactoryTalk Diagnostics
    .
  2. In the left pane of the
    FactoryTalk Diagnostic Configuration
    dialog, select
    Syslog
    .
  3. In the right pane of the
    FactoryTalk Diagnostic Configuration
    dialog, select
    Enable Syslog
    .
  4. Configure the following:
    • Syslog Collector or Relay
    • Message Buffering
      IMPORTANT: Changing the buffer size will affect all computers, and reducing the size could potentially remove messages stored in the buffer.
    • Message Categories
  5. Select
    Apply
