Manage computer groups
Create a computer group to manage security for computers that share the same security requirements, such as groups that are based on where the computers are physically located or the tasks performed using those computers. Example: Create a computer group to help enforce a policy that ensures computers are located within view of the equipment they are controlling.
Computer accounts and computer group accounts are not linked to the
Windows
computer account. FactoryTalk Directory
computer accounts can be created before computer deployment. However, the name of a computer account must match the Windows
computer name for the security settings associated with the computer to take effect. If the name of the computer changes in Windows
, the name of the corresponding FactoryTalk Directory
computer account must be changed manually.Computer accounts and computer group accounts are only used with a
FactoryTalk
