Set cache policies for a computer group

Rules for directory cache expiration in
FactoryTalk
are managed system-wide in
Security Policy Properties
.
These policies determine:
  • How long cache files remain available after the client computer is disconnected from the server.
  • If a warning message appears before the directory cache expires.
Some circumstances require overriding the default system-wide settings and specifying directory cache timeout policies for a specific group of computers. If an individual computer has cache policies defined, those settings supersede the computer group setting. Example: The computer group "Laptops" has a policy that allows the computers in the group to be disconnected from the
FactoryTalk
network directory for 9 hours. However, a specific laptop named "Roving laptop" can have a policy that permits it to be disconnected from the
FactoryTalk
network directory for 48 hours so that it can be transported between different locations.
See Set cache policies for a computer for more information about how to set cache policies for a single computer.
