Set the syslog policy for a computer group

The syslog configurations in

FactoryTalk

are managed system-wide in

System Policies

. Use these configurations to modify:

Syslog collector settings
Message buffering
Message categories

Some circumstances require overriding the default system-wide settings and specifying the syslog policy for a specific group of computers. If a computer group has the syslog policy disabled, the syslog policy of computers in the computer group will be disabled and cannot be modified. If a computer group has the syslog policy enabled, you can modify the syslog policy of computers in the computer group as needed. Prerequisites

Setting the syslog system policy for a computer group requires these permissions:

Common > List Children
Common > Read
Common > Write
Common > Configure Security

To set the syslog system policy for a computer group

In
FactoryTalk Administration Console
Explorer
, expand
System > Computers and Groups > Computers Groups
.
Right-click the computer, and then select
Properties
.
Select the
Diagnostics
tab.
Enable or disable syslog forwarding for the computer group.
Select
Apply
.
