Set Rockwell Automation Compare options for Siemens S5 Controller and S7 Controller (STEP7)

When you compare project files (.s7p or .s5p) for different Siemens controller assets, a series of dialog boxes shows for you to select the programs to compare, specify blocks to exclude from the comparison, and to show results.
When performing a Rockwell Automation Compare on Siemens controllers, if you start the compare using binders, the results are less detailed than if you start the compare using the Siemens project files.
To start a more detailed comparison
  1. Open the Archive tab.
  2. In the asset tree, select a binder for a Siemens controller.
  3. In the
    Content
     and
    Filters
    pane of the
    Archive
    tab, navigate to the .s7p or .s5p file.
  4. Right-click the file and choose
    Select Left item for RA Compare
    .
  5. In the same manner, select the binder and the project file for the second item to compare.
  6. Right-click the .s7p or .s5p file and select
    RA Compare to firstselectionname
    .
  7. The following four dialog boxes are shown one after the other. Fill each in to complete the comparison. Help is available in each dialog box.

    • Block Options
    • Comparison Overview
    • Comparison Details
