Items in Add Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive dialog box
Items in the dialog box include:
- (Parent)(Read-only) This field shows the name of the container into which the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive is being added.
- Description(optional) Type a description for the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive. The description shows in theArchivetab when the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive is selected. The description can be a maximum of 260 characters.
- NameEnter a unique and meaningful name for the device. This name shows in the asset tree. The software defaults toAllen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive. The name must be unique within the parent container. That is, you can have two devices with the same name in the asset tree, they just can't be in the same container. If you add a device into a container that already has a device of the same name, FactoryTalk AssetCentre appends a number (like_2) to the device name to ensure uniqueness.Asset names can be a maximum of 260 characters. The characters \ / : * ? " < > | are not allowed. The character pair &# is not allowed. A space, tab, underscore (_) or dollar sign ($) cannot be the first character in a name, but can be used elsewhere in the name. The following Microsoft Windows device names cannot be used as asset names, whether upper or lower case, with or without the colon: CON:, PRN:, AUX:, NUL:, COM1:, COM2:, COM3:, COM4:, COM5:, COM6:, COM7:, COM8:, COM9:, LPT1:, LPT2:, LPT3:, LPT4:, LPT5:, LPT6:, LPT7:, LPT8:, and LPT9. For example,Auxiliary Linewould be a valid name whereasAux Linewould not.
- Addressing InfoClick in this field and then click
to browse the network for the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive that you want to add. When you have found the desired Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive, select it and click Select.If you are disconnected from the control network, you cannot browse for the device address. Later, when you are connected to the control network, edit the device's properties to specify the device address. - Backup DataSpecify the backup file to use for Backup or Backup and Compare operations. FactoryTalk AssetCentre uses a binder to store backup files for Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive. To specify a binder, click in this field and then click
. The Backup Data Browserdialog box opens.In most cases, when configuring an Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive for the first time, a backup binder does not exist yet. In this situation, you can choose to leave Backup Data blank (do not specify a backup binder) or manually specify a backup binder.- If you do not specify a backup binder, one is automatically created the first time a backup schedule runs for this device. The file name isAssetName_Backup, whereAssetNameis the name of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive asset as given in theNamefield in this dialog box. The new backup binder is placed under the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive in the asset tree. The schedule is also updated to use the new binder.
- If you manually specify a backup binder, use theBackup Datafield to add a binder as theSourceFolder.
- Catalog Information(optional) Enter the catalog number of the device to which you are (or will be) connected.
- Configuration DataClick in this field and then click
to select a binder, which is used as the configuration data for the asset. This associates the binder with the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive asset in FactoryTalk AssetCentre. The Configuration Data Browserdialog box opens.TIP:A binder must include an Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive device's entire project folder, which is created using the Unified Device Configuration component (that is installed with Rockwell Automation Connected Components Workbench software). The project folder should include the Unified Device Configuration project folder, including the *.idf file, the *.iuux file, and the *.ccwsln file. If you select a folder that lacks of one or more of the above necessary files, the Backup (or Backup and Compare) schedules may fail. - Device Name(Read-only) Shows the name of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive to which you are (or will be) connected. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- Firmware Revision(Read-only) Shows the firmware revision of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive to which you are (or will be) connected. This is filled in automatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- Hardware Revision(optional) Enter the hardware series and revision of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive to which you are (or will be) connected.
- Hardware Serial Number(Read-only and available only when using a CIP network) The hardware serial number of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Hardware Type(Read-only) Shows the type of device to which you are (or will be) connected. This is filled in withRockwell Automation PowerFlex Driveautomatically when you browse for the addressing information.
- MAC Address(Read-only) The MAC address of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Manufacture Date(Read-only and available only when using a CIP network) The manufacture date of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Manufacturer(Read-only) Shows the manufacturer of the device to which you are (or will be) connected. The software defaults toRockwell Automation - Allen Bradley.
- Selected Device(Read-only) Shows the name of the selected Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive device, which is configured in theConfiguration Data Browserdialog box.
- Series(Read-only and available only when using a CIP network) The series of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Warranty Number(Read-only and available only when using a CIP network) The warranty number of the device to which you are connected. This is filled in automatically if the device selected in theSelect Device for Asset Typedialog box is valid.
- Agent GroupClick in this field and then click
to select the agent group for the device.- When adding the device under the root, the default value of Agent Group isSystem Default.
- When adding the device under a container, the default value of Agent Group isInherit from parent: the parent container’s Agent Group property.
- Asset Number(optional) Enter an asset number for management or inventory purposes.
- Location(optional) Enter information about the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive's location in your facility.
- Serial Number(optional) Enter the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive's serial number.
- Properties Configuration(Optional) This box shows the number of default extended properties configured by theOptions dialog box: Extended Properties. To configure extended properties for the asset, click in this box, and then click
. In the Extended Propertiesdialog box, edit, add, or delete extended properties.
