Assets Lifecycle

How do I open the Assets Lifecycle tab?
  • Select
    View > Assets Lifecycle
    , or click the
    Assets Lifecycle
    button.
Assets Lifecycle provides the Rockwell Automation hardware device lifecycle status and firmware information. Use Assets Lifecycle to decide which device needs upgrade or replacement and view the most current firmware revision available for your device.
Use the Assets Lifecycle tab to:
  • Synchronize lifecycle information in the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server and client with the data on the Rockwell Automation lifecycle website.
  • Refresh lifecycle information in the FactoryTalk AssetCentre client with the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server, without connecting to the Rockwell Automation lifecycle website.
  • Export the lifecycle information to a CSV file.
  • View the lifecycle status of assets in the asset tree or those included in the RAAI file scanned by Asset Inventory.
  • View the detailed hardware device information.
  • View firmware version in the device, its release notes, product notices, and product safety advisories.
  • Filter devices with multiple criteria.
The Assets Lifecycle tab includes the following sub-tabs:
  • Asset
Lists the assets from the asset tree. Parent nodes are kept to show the hierarchy.
  • Asset Inventory
Lists the assets of the RAAI file scanned by Asset Inventory. Parent nodes are kept to show the hierarchy.
You need the following information to retrieve the lifecycle status your hardware devices from the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC):
  • PCDC URL:
    api.rockwellautomation.com
  • TLS port:
    443
  • IP addresses:
    52.xxx.xxx.xxx - 34.xxx.xxx.xxx
When configuring the firewall, you must know the following security architecture use cases:
  • Platinum:
TLS proxy located inside the IDMZ and industrial firewall located inside the cell or area zone
You might have an existing TLS proxy located in the enterprise DMZ zone, and this architecture could be implemented to leverage that existing TLS proxy.
  • Platinum w/Cisco Umbrella:
TLS proxy located in the cloud
  • Gold:
IDMZ with firewall and industrial firewall located inside the cell or area zone
  • Silver:
    IDMZ with firewall
  • Bronze:
A firewall between the enterprise and industrial zone
The reference documents and devices to configure depend on which security architecture you use because not all use cases use the TLS proxy.
