Create a Machine Edition application

You can create a
FactoryTalk View ME
application when you start
FactoryTalk View Studio
or when
FactoryTalk View Studio
is open.
To create a Machine Edition application
  1. If
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    is not started, start
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    .
  2. If
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    is started, from the
    File
    menu, select
    New Application
    or click the
    New Application
tool. If an application is already open,
    FactoryTalk View Studio
asks you whether to close the application. Click
    Yes
    .
  3. On the
    New
    tab of the
    New/Open Machine Edition Application
dialog box, enter a name for the application in the
    Application Name
    box.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description for the application. You can also modify the description in the application
    Properties
dialog box after the application is created.
  5. Select a language for the application. You can add more languages in the
    Language Configuration
dialog box after the application is created.
  6. Select a resolution for the application. You can modify the resolution in the

    Create
    .
FactoryTalk View Studio
creates the application’s folders and files and then shows the new application in the Explorer window. The system automatically creates a display called
MAIN
and sets the initial graphic to
Main
.
By default, the application files are stored in:
\Users\Public\Public Documents\RSView Enterprise\ME\HMI projects\<ApplicationName>
The application file is given the extension .med.
You have the option to customize the location using the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility.
To customize the HMI projects folder
  1. Open the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility.
    TIP:
You can find the utility from the Start menu or in C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\RSView Enterprise.
Make sure that the HMI project is not in use by
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    or
    FactoryTalk View ME Station
    .
  2. Specify a new folder to store the HMI projects.
  3. Select
    Apply
