Items in Options dialog box: Compare Engines
Items in the dialog box include:
Click to add a new compare engine to the list.
Click to duplicate the selected compare engine.
Click to remove the selected compare engine from the list.
Click to export this list to a file so that the list can be imported to another FactoryTalk AssetCentre server system.Use theSelect Compare Enginedialog box to specify which compare engines to export. You can use Shift+click and Ctrl+click to select multiple compare engines. ClickOK.Use theSave Asdialog box to provide a file name and location for the exported list.
Click to import a list of compare engines. Use theOpendialog box to navigate to and select the list to import.TIP:If a configuration has an exact duplicate, only one instance is imported.- Tabs underneath the buttonsCompare engines that have been added and configured.TIP:WinMerge compares multiple folders and files, presenting detailed differences in a text format. It can be configured to perform archive comparison and Generic FTP Device or Remote Computer files comparison during Backup and Compare schedules. Select theEnable for DR Comparecheck box to use WinMerge for the compare operations of Generic FTP Device or Remote Computer files.
After you add a new compare engine or import a list of compare engines, the compare engine configuration box shows. Items in this box include:
- DescriptionType the name of the comparison software. This is shown when a user has to choose the comparison software for a Backup and Compare schedule's compare configuration.If you want to set up the same comparison software with different settings, you can add it more than once with another description each time.
- ApplicationUse
to navigate to the comparison software, or type the path and executable file name.TIP:For WinMergeForDR, make sure that the file location for the application is C:\Users\Public\RockwellSoftware\AssetCentre. - ParametersSpecify the command line parameters used to run the selected comparison software. Refer to the software's documentation for correct syntax. Most will include two variables representing the items to be compared and may optionally include command line switches.Initially this field is filled in with default parameters for the two items to be compared. These default variables may or may not be correct for a specific compare engine.
- Timeout (seconds)This text box is disabled by default. SelectingEnable for DR Compareat the bottom of the dialog box turns on this text box.Specify an integer from 0 to 3600 to set the maximum duration (in seconds) allowed for completing a compare operation on Generic FTP or Remote Computer files. If an operation exceeds the configured time, it will be forcibly ended and the schedule will proceed. The default setting is 180 (seconds), and an entry of 0 seconds indicates no timeout.
- Report LocationThis text box is disabled by default. SelectingEnable for DR Compareat the bottom of the dialog box turns on this text box.Use
to choose a folder or enter a path used to save the compare report for a compare operation of Generic FTP or Remote Computer files.TIP:For WinMergeForDR, make sure that the folder location for the report location is C:\Users\Public\RockwellSoftware\AssetCentre. - ExtensionsThis box is disabled ifEnable for DR Compareat the bottom of the dialog box is selected. ClearingEnable for DR Compareturns on this box.Type the file extensions that you would like to associate with this compare engine. When this type of file is selected for a Rockwell Automation Compare, the associated compare engine will be used to do the comparison.You can specify multiple file types to be compared with this compare engine. List the file extensions on separate lines. Start the extension with a period. For example, .txt.If you specify more than one compare engine for the same type of file, you will be asked which to use when a comparison on that type of file is run.
- FallbackThis check box is disabled ifEnable for DR Compareat the bottom of the dialog box is selected. ClearingEnable for DR Compareturns on this check box.Select this check box if you want this compare engine to be used when a Rockwell Automation Compare is run on a file type that does not have a compare engine assigned to it. You can specify more than one compare engine as a fallback.
This icon next to a compare engine description in the left column of the dialog box marks compare engines that are specified as a fallback.- Enable for DR CompareSelect this check box to use the current compare engine for the compare operations of Generic FTP or Remote Computer files. Selecting this check box turns on theTimeout (seconds)andReport Locationtext boxes, while disabling theExtensionsbox and theFallbackcheck box.TIP:A compare engine configured for use with Generic FTP or Remote Computer cannot be used for archive comparison, and vice versa.
