About setting up Rockwell Automation Compares
Different types of files (or folders or binders) may require different software to perform the compare. For example, ControlLogix controllers use Logix Designer Compare Tool. For text files you might have a favorite third-party comparison tool that you would like to use. FactoryTalk AssetCentre also provides WinMerge as the comparison tool that compares files, presenting differences in a text format. Before running a Rockwell Automation Compare, be sure to set up the comparison tool to use. The tools for Rockwell Automation devices come preset.
To set up Rockwell Automation Compares, you need to specify compare engines and a working folder.
About compare engine settings
Compare engine settings are associated with the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server, so when you set this up on one client computer it is available to all clients connected to that server. Be aware, however, that the system updates compare engine configurations on client computers once a day. If someone has updated configurations using another client computer less that 24 hours ago, those configurations changes will not be available to you. Starting FactoryTalk AssetCentre or opening
Tools > Options >
Compare Engines
causes it to update immediately. You may see a status indicator while it is updating.Provide Feedback
