Specify compare engines

Specify the compare engine (software program) to use for different types of files.
To specify compare engines
  1. Select
    Tools > Options
    .
  2. In the left column, click
    Compare Engines
    .
  3. To add a new compare engine (or an existing compare engine with another configuration), click Add_compare_engine_button.
  4. Depending on if you are configuring the compare engine for Generic FTP or Remote Computer files, the configuration varies.
    • To configure a compare engine for Generic FTP files or Remote Computer files:
      Select the
      Enable for DR Compare
      check box at the bottom of the dialog box. Fill in the
      Description
      ,
      Application
      ,
      Parameters
      ,
      Timeout (seconds)
      , and
      Report Location
      fields.
    • To configure a compare engine for other file types:
      Keep the
      Enable for DR Compare
      check box at the bottom of the dialog box cleared. Fill in the
      Description
      ,
      Application
      ,
      Parameters
      , and
      Extensions
      fields.
      If you want this compare engine to be used when a compare is run on a file type that does not have a compare engine assigned to it, select the
      Fallback
      check box.
  5. To edit an existing compare engine configuration, select the compare engine configuration from the list and then edit the configuration as desired.
  6. Click
    OK
    .
If two users edit a particular compare engine configuration simultaneously, the last (most recent) edit is kept. That is, the changes of the first user to click
OK
are not saved.

Normal
