Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) operation properties for disaster recovery

Following are all possible settings for disaster recovery schedules for Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) devices.
These settings are used for two purposes:
  • Specify default disaster recovery schedule settings for Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) in
    Tools
    >
    Options
    .
  • Specify the settings of a particular Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) device in an existing schedule on the
    Schedules
tab. Changes to the settings within a schedule override the default settings for that instance.
Each setting applies to Backup and Compare schedules.
IMPORTANT:
  • Make sure you have installed the Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) with TIA Openness on the FactoryTalk AssetCentre agent computer.
    • If you install the Siemens S7 Controller (TIA Portal) after installing the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent, you should run the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller Launch Control Panel from
      Start
      >
      Rockwell Software
      , and then select
      Repair
      .
    • Make sure that the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller is running as an application. For more information, see FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller Launch Control Panel.
    • Make sure to select a standard Windows domain user account if you are in a Windows domain environment and the FactoryTalk AssetCentre AgentController runs as an application. This allows Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) to authenticate between the FactoryTalk AssetCentre agent to connect to the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server. If the AgentController is configured to use a local Windows user account, then WCF won’t work correctly and the FactoryTalk AssetCentre agent won’t be able to connect to the server.
  • Make sure you have disabled the FIPS.
  • If your access level for the PLC is
    No access (complete protection)
    or
    HMI access
, use the passwords that are set for
    Full access (no protection)
    or
    Read access
    to access.
Event Settings
  • Backup Compare Partner
(Only available when editing an existing schedule, not when setting defaults.) Specify the version of the backup file to compare to the controller files.
  • Create New Backup Version
    Set to
    Always
to create a backup version even if it is exactly the same as the last compared backup version. This is the default setting.
    Set to
    On Differences Found
to create a backup version only if differences are found. If the existing backup is the same as the information in the controller aside from excluded data blocks, then no backup is saved.
Asset specific properties
  • Block Options
You can exclude blocks of the S7 Controller (TIA Portal) program that you do not want to be included in a backup and compare operation.
    Click in the
    Block Options
field and then click browse button. Fill in the
    Block Options
    dialog box.
  • Exclude Compare Device List
    Set to
    True
to remove Device and DeviceItem in the ItemName column from the compare report. Hardware total check and Software total check under DeviceItem remain unaffected and will not be excluded from the compare report.
    For example,
    S71500/ET200MP station_1
    and
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^Rail_0^__random
    will be removed, but
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^1
    ,
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^1_hardware
    , and
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^Program blocks^Block_2
    will not be removed.
  • Exclude Compare Devices
Type the Device, DeviceItem, or Block to exclude from the compare report. Separate the list with a comma (,), such as
    S71500/ET200MP station_1, 2
    . The content is case-sensitive.
  • Exclude Compare PLC Hardware
    Set to
    True
to exclude all PLC hardware device item from the compare report. It should be noted that the modules associated with this hardware will not be excluded.
For example, if your hardware is
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^1_hardware
    , then the module
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^CP 1542-5_1^2
    will not be excluded.
  • Exclude Compare PLC Software
    Set to
    True
to exclude all PLC software device item from the compare report. It should be noted that the blocks associated with this software will not be excluded.
For example, if your software is
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^1
    , then the block
    S71500/ET200MP station_1^S71500^Program blocks^Block_1
    will not be excluded.
  • Exclude Compare Root Devices
    Set to
    True
to exclude all root devices from the compare report. Set to
    False
to include all root devices from the compare report.
  • Exclude Compare Ungrouped Devices
    Set to
    True
to exclude all ungrouped devices from the compare report. Set to
    False
to include all ungrouped devices from the compare report.
  • Exclude Compare UserGroup Devices
Type the UserGroup devices to exclude from the compare report. Separate the UserGroup with a comma (,), such as
    Root
    ,
    Ungrouped
    . The content is case-sensitive.
  • Only Report Differences
    Set to
    True
to generate a report that only shows differences when differences are found and the task is completed successfully.
Email notification
You can type email recipients' addresses separated by semicolons (;) or select addresses from the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Address Book. To select addresses from the Address Book, click in the field, and then click browse button. Complete the
Contacts and Groups
dialog box.
An email message will be sent to only one of these lists. For example, if differences are found when a backup and compare schedule runs, an email is sent to those on the
Event Compare Differences Detected
list. No email is sent to those on the
Event Completed
list.
  • Event Compare Differences Detected
The email addresses separated by semicolons (;) to which notification will be sent if the compare finds differences between the specified backup data or configuration data version and the data on the physical device.
  • Event Completed
The email addresses separated by semicolons (;) to which notification will be sent when the operation completes for the asset. If a Backup and Compare schedule completes without differences, an email is sent to this list. If it completes with differences, an email is sent to the
    Event Compare Differences Detected
    list, not this list.
  • Event Failed
The email addresses separated by semicolons (;) to which notification will be sent when the operation fails.
Attach report to email
  • Event Completed Differences Detected
    This defaults to
    True
to attach a report of differences to the email if the backup and compare schedule finds differences between the specified Backup Data version and the data on the physical device. Select
    False
to send an email without an attached report.
