Searches

Searches allows you to find records from the FactoryTalk AssetCentre database, such as the event log, audit log, diagnostics and health log, archive history log, archive check in and check out status log, and asset extended property, at a time. For example, you can search for events where a specific user performed a task on a specific computer.
You can perform searches in two different manners:
  • Scheduled searches
are used to run a search on a recurring basis. This kind of search works well for detecting specific conditions and user behaviors in log data. You can create a scheduled search or modify a previous search. You can also run scheduled searches manually to show search results immediately.
  • Unscheduled searches
are used for one-time purposes or when there is an immediate need, such as searching the audit log to determine if anyone has made a change in a control system that was working fine a few hours ago, but now is down and preventing production.
Search results are saved in PDF or CSV format to C:\Users\<Signed-in User>\Downloads on your computer. Scheduled search results can be delivered via email.
Search definitions are individually secured using FactoryTalk security. To determine who can set security for a given search and who can execute, modify, and run the search, set search security using the FactoryTalk AssetCentre desktop client. For more information, see Set search security in the
FactoryTalk AssetCentre Desktop Client Help
.
A scheduled search can run on an agent computer. The agent computer may be different from your FactoryTalk AssetCentre web client computer. You can set the time zone for a computer that is to run a selected scheduled search or set the default time zone for a computer that is to run scheduled searches.
