Create a search
Use FactoryTalk AssetCentre Searches to show specified records from the event log, audit
log, diagnostics and health log, archive history, archive check in and check out status
log, or asset extended property. Search results can be based on any column of data in a
record and are generated based on complex conditions that you set.
Prerequisites
- To create a search, make sure that you have these permissions:

- View a Search
- To create a scheduled search, make sure that you also have these additional permissions:
- Create a new schedule
- Edit a schedule
- View a schedule
- Command a schedule
To create a search
- OnSearches, selectSearch overview, and then select+New search.
- Enter a unique name for the search. The character limit is 60.
- Select the data source for which you want to show the records matching the specified criteria. You can only select one data source for each search. The supported data sources include:
- Archive Check In & Check Out Status
- Archive History
- Asset Extended Property
- Audits
- Diagnostics and Health
- Events
- Enter a description of the search and the results that it is designed to show. For example,Users using Logix Designer during first shift.There is no character limit for the description.
- Set email addresses to which you want notifications sent when the scheduled operation completes. You can enter email addresses manually or browse to see contacts in the FactoryTalk AssetCentre address book.
- Select the schedule type.
- For unscheduled searches, do the following:
- Clear theSchedulecheckbox.
- SelectOK.
- For scheduled searches, do the following:
- Use the dropdown arrow to select the desired start time to perform the search. To create a start time that does not begin on an hour or half hour, type the time in the box. Make sure to typeAMorPMif you enter manually.
- Select how often you want the search to run:
- HourlySpecify the interval at which the search will run in hours and minutes. For example, you can schedule the search to run every two hours.
- DailySpecify the interval at which the search will run in days. For example, you can schedule the search to run every day or every three days.
- WeeklySelect the interval in weeks to run the search, and then select the desired days on which the search should be run. For example, you can schedule the search to run every two weeks on Monday and Wednesday.
- MonthlySelect the day of the month for the search to run.
- Specify a specific date, such as the 15th of every month.
- Specify a certain day of the week, such as the last Friday of every month.
- Select or enter the maximum time the search should run in hours and minutes. If the search does not complete within that time, the search fails. If failures appear in your FactoryTalk AssetCentre Event Log, you may need to increase the number of agents to perform scheduled searches.
- SelectOK.
- Once the searches are created, you can further complete detailed settings.
- To configure how the search results will appear, select the search, and then selectDetailed settings>Source & Display. If you do not complete this tab, the default format will be used for the search results.
- To set the criteria to be used to search the record, select the search, and then selectDetailed settings>Conditions. If you do not complete this tab, there will be no conditions placed on the records returned in the search results.
- To format and modify the recipient list for scheduled search results and set the time zone for the computer running the search, select the search, and then select
to configure the Scheduled Search Operationsection. - To configure the overall display settings for the search results, select the search, and then select
to configure the Display Layoutsection.
