Modify a search
You can make changes to the schedule and details of a previously saved search. This
includes:
- Scheduling adjustments
- Modify the scheduled settings of a previously saved search. For example, change the search that runs once daily to run at the end of every eight-hour shift.
- Add a schedule to a currently unscheduled search.
- Detailed settings updates
- Change how the search results are displayed.
- Adjust the search conditions used to find and show records.
- Modify the time zone setting of the computer that is running the search.
Prerequisites
- To modify a search, make sure that you have these permissions:
- View a Search
- Write
- To modify a scheduled search, make sure that you also have theEdit a schedulepermission.
To add or modify a search schedule
- OnSearches, selectSearch overview, and then select
. For a scheduled search, you must toggle off the active
button before modification. - Change the basic or frequency information as you desire, and then selectSave.TIP:
- You cannot change the data source for a created search. To do that, delete the search, and then create a search with the desired data source.
- You can convert an unscheduled search into a scheduled one, but cannot revert a scheduled search to an unscheduled one.
To modify the detailed settings of a search
- OnSearches, selectSearch overview, and then selectDetailed settings.
- Select the search that you want to modify.
- To modify how the search results will appear, selectSource & Display. Edit the columns as you desire, and then selectSave.
- To modify the criteria on which the search is performed, selectConditions. Modify the condition settings as you desire, and then selectSave.
- To change the email notification settings, recipient list, output format, and time zone of the computer running the search, select
. Modify the scheduled search operation section in the
search properties, and then select Save. - To configure the overall display settings for the search results, select
. Modify the display layout section in the
search properties, and then select Save.
