Options in the Pen Attributes spreadsheet
The following table shows the options in the
Pen Attributes
spreadsheet on the Pens
tab.Options | Descriptions |
---|---|
Tag/Expr. | Specify a tag or expression whose value will be represented as a pen on the runtime chart. |
Model | The FactoryTalk View SE data log model, if any, to which the tag belongs. Data log models are used to view historical data.Specify the data log model to use to supply historical data when the trend is first shown, or when you scroll back in time. If you accept the default of None , the trend shows only real time data. Make sure you add the tags to the data log model. |
Color | Determines the color of the trend line. To change a color, click the color square, and then select a color from the palette. |
Visible | Determines whether the trend line is visible, or hidden on the chart. Click in the column to toggle the setting. |
Width | Sets the width of the trend line. The larger the size, the thicker the width. If you specify a width other than 1, you cannot change the line style setting. |
Type | Determines how trend lines are plotted on the chart.
|
Style | Determines the style of the trend line: solid, dashed, dotted, and so on. To use a line style other than a solid line, the line width must be set to 1. |
Marker | Identifies the plot symbol for each data point. If you select Show Only Markers on the Display tab, only those pens with assigned markers will show on the trend chart. |
Min / Max | The values represented by the bottom and the top of the chart. Tag values outside of the range determined by the minimum and maximum values may not show on the chart. To control the minimum and maximum range on the chart, use the Minimum Value , and Maximum Value options on the Y-Axis tab. |
Eng. Units | The engineering units that the pen represents, for example: rpm, gallon, fps, degrees, and so on. Engineering units can show as part of the line legend, but have no other effect. |
Description | An optional text description of the tag. You can use the description as the pen caption in the line legend. |
Shading | Use shading to show the relationship between pen values in the trend. At least two pens must be defined on the Pens tab before you can use shading. You can use pens associated with tags or constants as the upper or lower boundary. Shading is drawn in the color of the pen for which you have set up shading. |
Lower Bound | Select a pen for the lower shading boundary. When the pen you are defining plots below this boundary, the area between the two pens is shaded in the same color as the pen you are defining, not the color of the lower bound pen. |
Upper Bound | Select a pen for the upper shading boundary. When the pen you are defining plots above this boundary, the area between the two pens is shaded in the same color as the pen you are defining, not the color of the upper bound pen. |
Link Data | Select Link Data to use the tag default settings for the min/max values, tag description and engineering units. If the tag's min/max values, description and engineering units are not available, three question marks (???) appear in the columns. If Link Data is selected when adding a FactoryTalk Historian pen, the pen properties are read from the FactoryTalk Historian module when the Display is opened; if not selected, the last saved properties are shown. |
Log Scale | Select Log Scale to show the chart with the logarithmic scale to base 10. This option only works for standard chart style. If selected, the options Major grid lines and Scale as percentage that you specify in the Y-Axis tab are ignored. |
