Add a new pen and set up its attributes

Use the
Pen Attributes
 spreadsheet on the
Pens
tab to add new pens, and set up and edit the attributes for each pen.
TIP:
To view historical (for example, logged) data in a trend, add a pen that shows data from a tag in a data log model.
If you are viewing the properties of a FactoryTalk Historian ME, or SE pen, and you selected
Link Data
 on the
Pens
tab when the pen was added, the pen properties are read from the FactoryTalk Historian ME, or SE module when the Display is opened. If you did not select
Link Data
, the last saved pen properties are shown.
To add a new pen and set up its attributes:
  1. From the
    Pens
    tab, select
    Tag(Live Data)
     from the
    Pen Source
    list.
  2. Click
    Add Pen(s)
    .
  3. From the
    Expression Editor
     screen, click
    Tags
    .
  4. From the
    Tag Browser
    , select the desired tag, and click
    OK
    .
  5. In the
    Pen Attributes
     spreadsheet, specify a tag, or expression that will provide data for the pen, and set up the remaining attributes to determine how the pen will look at runtime.
