OPC UA Server
Configure the Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) Server.
OPC UA enables secure access to a high volume of data using an industry standard protocol.
Data can be represented in multiple forms. The simplest form presents Individual scalar data
items with folders for data scopes, structure, and array element. Using this form, all data
available to FactoryTalk Linx, the FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector and the FactoryTalk Live
Data OPC DA interface is fully available. By creating tag lists, only selected structures,
arrays, and complex types are presented using the definitions derived from Logix controllers.
Finally, with a custom namespace, selected control system data can be reorganized to new
layouts and naming conventions. FactoryTalk Linx Gateway supports 100 OPC UA client connections. But the
actual capacity for OPC UA client connections could vary based on available computer resources
and the amount of information being requested. The Logix controller’s OPC UA tag access
setting is used for its embedded OPC UA server and does not apply to tags delivered by
FactoryTalk Linx Gateway. Use the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA Tag list option to limit
which tags OPC UA clients can access. When FactoryTalk Linx Gateway delivers structures and
arrays data, the number of defined elements may require the Logix controller to split the data
into separate packets. However, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will wait to receive all of the data
before sending the entire array to an OPC UA client.
Field | Description |
|---|---|
Disabled or Enabled | Controls the OPC UA service and view the status. |
Service Name | Sets the OPC UA service name visible to OPC UA clients. |
Enable certificate management by FactoryTalk Policy Manager | Specifies whether to use FactoryTalk® Policy Manager to manage certificates
with the OPC UA Server. When it is selected, Outgoing Certificate will be
disabled. It only works when the endpoint is configured with both the
Basic256Sha256 Sign and Encrypt security policy and FactoryTalk Security User
authentication. After the certificates are deployed by FactoryTalk Policy Manager , you must
restart the OPC UA Server manually to adopt the new certificate.
IMPORTANT:
FactoryTalk Policy Manager must be
version 6.60.00 or later. |
Namespace | Determines how the OPC UA service will present information to OPC UA clients.
|
Discovery service URL | Lists the URL of the OPC UA Local Discovery Service. |
Register with Discovery Service | Sets whether the OPC UA service is broadcast as part of
the OPC UA Local Discovery Service. |
