How do I open Endpoints?
- From theStartmenu, selectRockwell Software > FactoryTalk Linx Gateway Configuration.
- ExpandOPC UA Server, and the selectEndPoints.

to add, remove, and configure OPC
UA server endpoint URLs and properties.Endpoints
Field | Description |

Add | Adds a OPC UA server endpoint to the list. |
Delete | Removes the selected OPC UA server endpoint from the list. |
Name | Shows the name for the OPC UA server endpoint. The name must be unique. The server name displays in the OPC UA namespace and is included in the full tag path for all nodes provided by the server. |
URL | Shows the network path to the OPC UA Server. |
Security Policy | Displays whether security is required or optional for connections between OPC UA clients and the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA server. |
Security Mode | Displays the security method required for connections between OPC UA clients and the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA server. |
Endpoint Properties
Field | Description |

Name | Sets the name for the OPC UA server endpoint. The name must be unique. The server name displays in the OPC UA namespace and is included in the full tag path for all nodes provided by the server. |
Address | Selects the hostname or IP address of the computer. |
Port | Sets the port number for the OPC UA server endpoint. The port must be unique. The default port is 4990 and increments by 1 for each additional endpoint.The firewall on the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA server must allow incoming connections to the selected port for the connection to succeed. |
URL | Gets the network path to the OPC UA Server. This URL must be provided to OPC UA client applications in order to connect to the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway UA service. |
Copy | Copies the URL into the windows clipboard, so it can be pasted into the OPC UA Client. |
Disable | Turns off the endpoint. |
Enable reverse connect | Enables a server to initiate the connection to an OPC UA client. |
| Sets the URL to identify the OPC UA client the server will communicate with using the reverse connect. The URL must be in the format opc.tcp://hostname_or_ip:port/Endpoint where hostname_or_ip and port are replaced with the hostname or IP address and port number of the OPC UA client. Endpoint is optional. Do not use the port that is already occupied by other clients.The maximum number of Client URLs supported is 20 for each endpoint. It is available when configuring reverse connect. |
| Sets the maximum number of clients connected to the current UA server endpoint. These clients should be on the same computer with the same client URL. The valid range of Max Connection is from 1 through 20. It is available when configuring reverse connect. |
Anonymous | Grants the Anonymous account with access to FactoryTalk Linx Gateway . |
Limit to read-only access | Sets Anonymous account with only read access. |
Enable read access to CIA message | Permits an OPC UA client connected to FactoryTalk Linx Gateway with Anonymous login and read access permissions to retrieve information from a device using a FactoryTalk Linx shortcut configured with: CIP Object - Class/Instance/Attribute Message |
Enable write access to CIA message | Permits an OPC FactoryTalk Linx Gateway with Anonymous login and write access permissions to send information to a device using a FactoryTalk Linx shortcut configured with: CIP Object - Class/Instance/Attribute Message |
FactoryTalk Security User | Sets FactoryTalk Security user with read and write access. The user is created in FactoryTalk Administration Console > System > Users and Groups. Username and password are needed. |

Security Mode | Displays the security method required for connections between OPC UA clients and the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA server.

Log diagnostic message on tag write | When enabled, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will create a diagnostic or audit message every time a tag is written by an external OPC UA client. The default setting is disabled. |
Log as audit message | When enabled, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will create an audit message in the FactoryTalk Audit log with time-and date-stamped information to track changes that occurred during the operation of the system. |
Log as diagnostic message | When enabled, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will create a diagnostic message in the FactoryTalk Diagnostics log with time-and date-stamped information to help diagnose anomalies. |
