Data Log Models

In the
Data Log Models
editor, create data log models that identify which tag values are to be logged and when. Data logging is done by the HMI server in any given area. If an application has more than one data server in an area, for example if it also contains an OPC server, all data logging is still done by the HMI server.
Data log information can be stored in file sets with the extensions
.DAT
or in an ODBC-compliant database.
  • If you use the
    File Set
storage format, tag values are stored in proprietary-format files. You can view the contents of these file sets with data grid objects or trends. To show historical data in a trend, assign a tag from a data log model to a pen.
  • If you log to an ODBC-compliant database, you can view the data in trends and use third-party, ODBC-compliant tools to analyze and create reports from the data.
IMPORTANT: Tags of the LINT or ULINT type are not supported in data log models.
