Data Log Models editor - Advanced Configuration options
The following table shows options in the dialog box.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Maximum time to buffer data before attempting switchover (minutes) | Enter the maximum amount of time Data Log will buffer data before attempting a switchover from the primary to the secondary path. This allows Data Log to retry access to the primary path for a while before switching over to the secondary path. If you specify zero (0), the switchover takes place as soon as the primary path becomes unavailable, and no data is buffered. The default value in this field is 10 minutes. The buffer can hold 64 Kb of data. If it fills before the specified time, and the primary path is still unavailable, FactoryTalk View switches over to the secondary path. If the primary path becomes available before the maximum time, FactoryTalk View logs the data in the buffer to the primary path and continues to use the primary path. The amount of time FactoryTalk View buffers the data can vary slightly from the specified time, depending on the log rate for periodic models or the frequency with which tag values change for on-event models. |
How often to retry primary for automatic switchback (minutes) | Specify the time in minutes that elapses between retries to switch logging back from the secondary path to the primary path. If you set this field to zero, Data Log will not automatically attempt to switch back to the primary path. The default value in this field is 10 minutes. |
Minimum free disk space required for auto switchback (MB) | If you are using file sets, specify the minimum amount of disk space in megabytes that must be free in the primary path before logging will be switched back to it. The value in this field prevents thrashing back and forth in low disk space situations. The default value in this field is 10 MB. The amount of space an individual application requires depends on the frequency and amount of data logged. This field is not available if you choose the ODBC database storage format.FactoryTalk View does not use this value to trigger a switch to the secondary path. The value is used only to determine whether to switch back to the primary path automatically after the time to retry has elapsed. Note: The DataLogSwitchBack command does not check that the minimum disk space specified for the file set storage format is available. |
