Client can't connect to server
If a client cannot connect to the server (server status in the Status Bar is Disconnected or a message indicates that the server is not available) or to capabilities located on the network (for example, logs won't show or schedule information does not appear) check the following:
- Client computer is connected to the network and the network is operational.
- Server computer is running.
- FactoryTalk AssetCentre Server service, IIS and SQL server are all online.
- Correct FactoryTalk Directory is specified. On the machine running the client, selectStart > Rockwell Software > Specify FactoryTalk Directory Location.
- Server location setting is correct. On the server computer go toStart > Rockwell Software > Factory Talk AssetCentre Server Settings. The server location must be set in this utility, NOT in the FactoryTalk Administration Console.
- SQL Connection is set properly. On the server computer go toStart > Rockwell Software > FactoryTalk AssetCentre Data Source Configuration. See your SQL Server administrator for the correct SQL Server location. See also the FactoryTalk AssetCentre server installation section of theFactoryTalk AssetCentre Installation Guide.
- If you are running in an environment without a domain controller (in a workgroup), you may need to disable the single sign-on feature of FactoryTalk. See theFactoryTalk Administration Console Helpfor more information.
