Destination Setup

How do I open Destination Setup?
  1. From the
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Tools
    menu, choose
    FactoryTalk Diagnostics > Setup
    .
  2. If prompted by
    Windows
User Account Control to allow the application to make changes, selected
    Yes
    .
  3. In the
    Diagnostics Configuration
    window, select
    Destination Setup
    .
Use
Destination Setup
to view and configure settings for each
FactoryTalk Diagnostics
logging destination installed on the computer.
Any number of
FactoryTalk
products and services may be routing messages to the same logging destinations on the computer. The settings configured affect all messages routed to the same logging destinations.
For example, suppose
FactoryTalk View SE
and
FactoryTalk Linx
are both sending messages to one local log and to one ODBC log on the same computer. When configuring options for the local log, the settings affect messages routed by both
FactoryTalk View SE
and
FactoryTalk Linx
.
Computers can be configured for specialized logging scenarios using message routing. For example, to focus on quick responses to operational problems, a plant manager might configure the local log on his computer to log only "Error" and "Warning" messages and ignore "Information" and "Audit" messages. However, on another computer that is used for programming, a software engineer might want to configure the local log to log only messages categorized as "Developer" messages.
In the
Destination Setup
tree view, select either
Local Log Destination Setup
or
ODBC Database Destination Setup
and configure these logging destinations then use
Message Routing
to select the types of messages logged.
