Configure ControlNet I/O

Use this procedure to configure a ControlNet I/O. This is an overview of the required steps.
Prerequisites
  • Before you configure, or define, the I/O in the ControlNet Scanner using
    FactoryTalk Linx
    , use the
    Rockwell Software
    Scanlist Configuration Tool
to insert connections and apply the scanlist to the network.
    TIP:
When you select the virtual backplane on the user interface,
    FactoryTalk Linx
may not automatically discover devices that reside in it. This is most likely to happen if you have added the device with a separate software package such as the
    SoftLogix
    Chassis Monitor or
    RSLinx Classic
    .
If you think you have devices resident in your virtual backplane that are not showing up on the
    FactoryTalk Linx
user interface, you can right-click the virtual backplane and then click
    Start Browsing
    or
    Show All Devices
to see those devices. Note that saved configuration data is not lost if the devices do not appear.
To configure a ControlNet I/O scanner
  1. Add a ControlNet Scanner
  2. Add an address block
  3. Add a connection
  4. Add an alias
After the I/O is configured, configure a device shortcut that references the ControlNet I/O scanner. When you browse for tags exposed by this
FactoryTalk Linx
server, the aliases you configured will display.
