Start an application automatically on a PanelView Plus CE terminal using parameters

On a
PanelView Plus CE
terminal, you can set up
FactoryTalk View ME Station
to start and run an application automatically whenever the terminal starts by setting up the startup options or using parameters.
To start an application automatically when a
PanelView Plus CE
terminal starts
  1. Copy the path to the MERuntime.exe file (FactoryTalk View ME Station) to the Windows
    Startup
    folder.
The default folders of the path to the MERuntime.exe file is
    \Storage Card\Windows\Desktop
    .
    The Windows
    Startup
    folder is
    \Storage Card\Windows\Startup
    .
  2. In the
    Startup
    folder, right-click
    FactoryTalk View ME Station
    and select
    Properties
    .
  3. On the
    Shortcut
    tab, in the
    Target
box, after the existing text, type a space, the path to the .mer file, and one or more parameters.
For example, to start FactoryTalk View ME Station and open an application file in a default folder, called
    Malthouse
    , type:
    "\Storage Card\Rockwell Software\RSViewME\Runtime\Malthouse.mer" /r /d /o
  4. Click
    OK
    .
In the future, whenever the
PanelView Plus CE
terminal starts,
FactoryTalk View ME
Station will start automatically, delete the applications log files, overwrite the terminal's communications file, and run the application.
If you do not want to delete the log files, omit the
/d
parameter.
If you do not want to overwrite the communications file, omit the
/o
parameter.
To give the user the choice of overwriting the communications file, use the
/a
parameter instead of the
/o
parameter.
TIP:
If your application uses a shared network folder to store data log files, you will have to log onto a network when the application starts. To run the application automatically, you must store the network logon data in the terminal's permanent storage.
