Example: Security by exclusion

To set up security for a system that has a system administrator with access to all graphic displays, and two users with restricted access, you would do the following:
In the
Graphics
editor:
  • Assign security code A to a graphic display named
    Boiler
  • Assign security code B to all the other graphic displays
In the
Runtime Security
editor:
  • Leave all the access rights to all codes turned on (Y) for System Administrator
  • Turn off (N) access rights to everything except code A for User1
  • Turn off (N) access rights to everything except code A for User2
With this setup, User1 and User2, who have access to code A only, can log on, view the Boiler display, and log off. The system administrator, who has access to all codes, (that is, both A and B), can view all the graphic displays.
