Transfer a file to a MobileView, PanelView Plus 7, PanelView Plus 6, PanelView Plus, PanelView Plus Compact, or PanelView Plus CE terminal
Use the
Download
tab of the Transfer Utility
dialog box to:- Download a runtime application file (.mer) or True Type font file (.ttf or .ttc) from the development computer (source) to aPanelView Plus 7,PanelView Plus 6,PanelView Plus,PanelView Plus Compact, orPanelView Plus CEterminal (destination). A .ttf file contains a single font. A .ttc file contains a collection of fonts.
- Download a runtime application file (.mer) from the development computer (source) to aMobileViewterminal (destination).
Before you transfer a file to a
MobileView
, PanelView Plus 7
, PanelView Plus 6
, PanelView Plus
, PanelView Plus Compact
, or PanelView Plus CE
terminal, you must:- Create a runtime application file.
- Configure anFactoryTalk Linxdriver for the transfer on the source computer and the destination terminal.
To transfer a file to a

, or PanelView Plus CE
terminal- On theDownloadtab of theTransfer Utilitydialog box, in theSource filebox, specify the location of the file to be transferred. Click theBrowsebutton to browse for the file.TIP:The file source must be on the local computer. ME Transfer Utility does not support downloading from a network location.
- To use a different name for the downloaded file, select theDownload ascheck box and type the new name.
- From theDestination storagetypelist, select the kind of storage the file will be stored in at the destination.
- (Optional) If you want the downloaded application to run every time the terminal is restarted, select theRun application at start-upcheck box.
- (Optional) If you want to replace communications or delete log files when application runs, select the following checkbox(s).
- Replace communications
- Delete Log Files
- From theSelect destinationterminallist, select the destination terminal in theFactoryTalk Linxcommunications tree.
- ClickDownload.
Runtime application files will be downloaded to the runtime application file folders, and Font files will be downloaded to the Font file folders.
When the download starts, ME Transfer Utility checks whether there is enough storage space on the destination to save the downloaded file.
- If the file to be downloaded is the same size or nearly the same size as the existing file, you can complete the download.
- If the file to be downloaded is significantly larger than the existing file, check the amount of actual available space before proceeding with the download.
- If the file to be downloaded is overwriting an existing file, ME Transfer Utility does not include the size of the existing file in its calculation of available space and the existing file will be deleted.
- If the download fails or is canceled, the file that was being downloaded will be deleted from the destination.
