Perform a manual analysis of index fragmentation

Manually analyze the indexes to understand the fragmentation status in real time and to decide whether an index rebuild is needed.
Prerequisites
  • Make sure you have the
    Configure Database Maintenance
     permission.
To perform a manual analysis of index fragmentation
  1. Select
    Tools > Options
    .
  2. Under
    Category
    on the left side of the dialog box, select
    Database Maintenance
    .
  3. In the
    Manual Database Maintenance
     section, click
    Analyze Index
    .
  4. A dialog box shows indicating whether an index rebuild is needed. Click
    OK
    .
  5. Close the
    Options
    dialog box.
