Configure automatic database maintenance

Automatic database maintenance rebuilds the fragmented indexes regularly if the index fragmentation rate exceeds the configured threshold. If the fragmentation rate doesn't exceed the threshold, an email will be sent notifying the database status.
Prerequisites
  • Make sure you have the
    Configure Database Maintenance
    permission.
To configure automatic database maintenance
  1. Select
    Tools > Options
    .
  2. Under
    Category
on the left side of the dialog box, select
    Database Maintenance
    .
  3. Select the
    Perform automatic database maintenance
    check box.
  4. In the percentage list, select a value or enter any integer from 20 through 50.
  5. In the
    Start on
list, select a date, and then select or enter a time when the automatic database maintenance starts. Make sure the time format follows
    hh:mm AM
    (or
    PM
    ).
    TIP:
The index rebuild process may take several minutes to complete and may impact the system performance. Set the maintenance time during server null time when no scheduled tasks or user interaction is taking place if possible.
    When updating from
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre
version 10.00.00 to version 11.00.00, it is recommended to customize the date and time settings. If not, the automatic database maintenance will follow the previous configuration in version 10.00.00.
  6. In the
    days
box, click the up and down arrow or enter an integer as the frequency for automatic database maintenance.
  7. Next to the
    Email notification
box, select the browse button, and then choose the email recipients to receive the database maintenance status.
  8. Click
    OK
    .
