Step 4: Add contacts to the Address Book

The FactoryTalk AssetCentre system uses the contact information to notify users about the progress and outcome of Disaster Recovery schedules and other system-related events. You can then add contacts to groups (for example, allelectricians@myplant.com) if your existing mail system supports groups. This allows you to inform multiple recipients about system events simultaneously.
Contacts cannot be imported from another email program. More than one user can create contacts simultaneously.
IMPORTANT:
To create contacts, you must be granted
View Address Book
and
Edit Address Book
permissions.
To create contacts
  1. Select
    Start
    >
    Rockwell Software
    >
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre Desktop Client
    to start the FactoryTalk AssetCentre desktop client.
  2. Select
    View
    >
    Address Book
    .
  3. Select
    Tasks
    >
    New Address Book Contact
    .
    Keyboard shortcut: Press
    Ctrl+N
  4. Complete the information in the
    New Contact
    dialog box. For the contact to receive notifications, you must enter an email address.
    TIP:
    If in your email system you have a group with an existing email address (for example, a group of electricians with the email address AllElectricians@MyCompany.com), to which you want to send notifications through AssetCentre, you can use that group's email address. Simply create a contact and give it a name (for example, Electricians) and enter the group's email address (AllElectricians@MyCompany.com) as the contact's default email address. The individual email addresses of the electricians group are not added to the
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre Address Book
