Add RA Drive dialog box

How do I open the Add RA Drive dialog box?
  1. To enter Design mode if you are not already in it, click design_mode_button.
  2. In the Asset Catalog, expand the
    Legacy Device Items
    node.
  3. Drag an RA Drive asset onto the tree in the Asset View.
Use the
Add RA Drive
dialog box to add a Rockwell Automation drive to the asset tree. You can add a Rockwell Automation drive in the root or in a container.
The device is added to the asset tree as soon as this dialog box opens. Clicking
Cancel
in this dialog box abandons any changes made to the device properties, but leaves the device in the tree.
AssetCentre provides two assets to backup Rockwell Automation drives: the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex asset type and the RA Drive asset type. When a drive is configured as an Allen-Bradley PowerFlex asset type AssetCentre uses the Universal Device Connector (UDC), from Connected Components Workbench, to perform the backup. The backup created by AssetCentre can be used in Connected Components Workbench. When a drive is configured as an RA Drive asset type, AssetCentre uses DriveExecutive Lite to perform the backup. The backup created by AssetCentre can be used in DriveExecutive Lite.
TIP:
It is not necessary to install either tool on the AssetCentre Agent computer; the AssetCentre installation process installs the necessary components.
If you are using Automatic Device Recovery (ADR) - that is to say, the drive configuration is managed through RSLogix 5000 or Studio 5000 Logix Designer – the drive configuration is part of the associated ACD file. When using ADR, there is no need to add either an Allen-Bradley PowerFlex Drive or an RA Drive asset to the AssetCentre system. The drive configuration is backed up as a part of the ControlLogix controller’s backup ACD file.
