Start an agent controller as an application

You can start an agent controller as an application using FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller Launch Control Panel.
TIP:
You can run only one agent controller application on the same agent computer at a time.
If you want to start an agent controller as an application, make sure that the agent controller application is allowed to communicate through the Windows firewall by adding
RA.FTAC.AgentControllerApplication.exe
as one of the allowed programs.
To start an agent controller as an application
  1. Open FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller Launch Control Panel.
    From
    Windows Start
    menu, select
    Rockwell Software
    >
    FactoryTalk AssetCentre Agent Controller Launch Control Panel
    .
    Or
    Navigate to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\AssetCentre Agents\AgentController
    , and double-click
    RA.FTAC.AgentControllerLaunchPanel.exe
    .
    If displayed, click
    Yes
    when the
    User Account Control
    dialog box prompts for Windows users.
  2. In the
    Agent Controller Launch Control Panel
    window, select the
    An Application
    option, and then specify a Windows user account with standard user permission to run the agent controller.
    • Account name input field
      Enter a Windows user account with standard user permission to run the agent controller.
    • Browse button
      Select to browse and add a Windows user account with standard user permission to run the agent controller.
  3. Click the
    Save
    button.
    TIP:
    By clicking the
    Save
    button, the settings you configured in the
    An Application
    option and
    Account name
    are saved.
The agent controller runs as an application, and all agent tasks assigned to the agent controller will start. The agent controller application will start after the next time the user logs on.
TIP:
You can also start the agent controller application by navigating to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockwell Software\AssetCentre Agents\AgentController
, and then double-clicking
RA.FTAC.AgentControllerApplication.exe
.
