Address Book frequently asked questions

This topic lists some frequently asked questions regarding the Address Book.
Can I import users or groups from another email program?
No, you cannot import contact information from another email program (such as Microsoft Outlook) or format (such as .CSV or .XML) to FactoryTalk AssetCentre, nor can you export contact information from FactoryTalk AssetCentre to another email program or format such as .CSV or .XML. However, you can add an existing group to the FactoryTalk AssetCentre Address Book and that group's contacts can receive notifications.
What happens if someone creates the same contact or group simultaneously?
Multiple users can create contacts and groups simultaneously. In the unlikely event that two people create a contact with the same name simultaneously, the person who first saves the information creates the contact. Other users can then modify the contact.
Why is a group not receiving email notifications?
A group will not receive email notifications if your email system does not support groups. For example, if you create contacts such as bob@myplant.com and sue@myplant.com and include them in a group you create called allelectricians@myplant.com, but your email program does not support groups, Bob and Sue will not receive notifications when an email notification is sent to allelectricians@myplant.com. If your email program does not support groups, you will have to send email notifications to individual contacts only.
How do I set up email notifications?
First, you must have contacts in your address book. Then when you create a schedule or search, you specify the email addresses to which you want to have notifications sent. You can edit an existing schedule or search to add or change email notifications.
What will the
From
address be in emails sent?
