Deploy a network distributed application
Deploy a network distributed application from the development computers to the production environment where it will run in a live setting.
To deploy a network distributed application
- On the development computer, useFactoryTalk View SEApplication Manager to back up the application that FactoryTalk Network Directory requires.
- UseFactoryTalk View SEApplication Manager to restore the application.
- After restoring RSLinx data servers in the application, renew or verify the topics, shortcuts, and device paths associated with each data server, as needed.
- After restoring the application, open the HMI server properties dialog box inFactoryTalk View Studioto verify the HMI server settings and set up additional HMI server properties as needed.
- If you have already set upFactoryTalk View SEclient files for the application, copy the files to their new host computers. You do not have to modify the files after copying them. You can also create newFactoryTalk View SEclients using theFactoryTalk View SEClient Wizard.
- After deploying the application, run the deployed FactoryTalk View SE clients and test the application.
Remarks
- All computers that take part in a network distributed application, including those that host aFactoryTalk View SEserver or client, must point to the sameFactoryTalk Directorycomputer. To do this, run theFactoryTalk DirectoryServer Location utility and specify the name of theFactoryTalk Directorycomputer, for each computer.
- To use the FactoryTalk Directory Server Location Utility, you must sign in as a user with administrative privileges at the Network Directory and in Windows, on the computer where the utility is running.
- For detailed information about completing the steps below, see Chapter 6 in theFactoryTalk View Site Edition User's Guide. For information about installing the FactoryTalk View Site Edition software, see theFactoryTalk View Site Edition Installation Guide.
