Copy an HMI server
Before you copy an HMI server to a new computer, for example when you deploy an application to the production environment, make sure that the FactoryTalk View SE Server software is installed, and the location of the FactoryTalk Directory is specified. For information about installing the HMI server software, see the
FactoryTalk View Site Edition Installation Guide
.
IMPORTANT:
When you move HMI project files, do not cut and paste the folder containing the HMI project files to a temporary folder during the setup of the application, because the temporary folder might not have the necessary security settings, and could result in you being unable to edit graphics on the remote computer after the HMI project files are moved from the temporary folder to the remote computer.
To copy the HMI server's project files to a new location:
- On the source computer, make sure that the HMI server is not running.
- SelectStart> Rockwell Software > HMI Server Backup and Restoreto open the tool.TIP:If running FactoryTalk View 6.1 or later on a 64-bit Windows operating system, you must first convert your tag database before you attempt to copy your legacy applications.
