Add an HMI server - network station

A FactoryTalk View SE network station application must have one HMI server. You can add the HMI server in the root area of the application (the icon and application name in the Explorer window) or within the area you have created.
When you add an HMI server, it is associated with an HMI project. This can be a new project, or one based on an existing project but given a new name. You can also import a project or attach the new HMI server to an existing HMI server.
By default, the HMI projects folder is in C:\Users\Public\Documents\RSView Enterprise\SE\HMI projects. You have the option to customize the location using the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility.
To add an HMI server:
  1. In
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , in the Explorer window, right-click the application or an area name, select
    Add New Server
    , and then select
    HMI Server
    .
  2. In the
    Add HMI Server Wizard
    , in the
    Select Operation
     window, click
    Create a new HMI server
    .
  3. (optional) To add the Application Libraries, click the
    Add Application Library
     dropdown list, and then select one or multiple libraries.
  4. Click
    Next
    .
  5. Type a name and description for the HMI server, specify the host computer if applicable, and click
    Finish
    .
  6. (optional) To change the default folder of the HMI projects, use the HMI Projects Folder Path Config Utility to specify a new folder.
Remarks
  • If the Network Station application does not contain any HMI server, you can open the application from any computer in the FactoryTalk Network directory.
  • Adding the Application Libraries affects the license counts because it adds extra displays to the application. Each added faceplate (.gfx file) counts as one display for activation purposes. The corresponding global object display (.ggfx file) does not add to the total license count.
  • When you create an HMI server and project, the project and its HMI tag database will have the same name as the HMI server. This name must be unique for any given computer.
  • An HMI server name can contain a maximum of 32 characters. It can contain alpha-numeric characters, spaces, and underscores.
  • The name for any area, data server, or HMI server should be unique.
  • Alarm
     is a reserved word in FactoryTalk View SE and cannot be used as the name of an HMI server.
  • Names for the following FactoryTalk View Studio components do not support extended ASCII characters or Unicode characters: applications, areas, HMI servers, data servers, HMI tags,
    FactoryTalk Linx
     shortcuts, and FactoryTalk View Studio application files (.SED).
