Attach a new HMI server
When you attach a new HMI server to an existing HMI project, you will see the HMI project components and editors from the existing project, in the folder for the new HMI server.
To attach a new HMI server:
- In FactoryTalk View SE, in the Explorer window, right-click the application root or an area name, depending upon where you are adding the server, and then clickAdd New Server > HMI Server.
- In the Select Operation window of the Add HMI Server Wizard, selectAttach to an existing HMI projectand clickNext.
- In the Computer Hosting Existing Server window, type the name of the computer that is hosting the existing server, or click the browse button to browse for and select one, and then clickNext.
- In the Select Existing HMI Server window, in theServer namefield, click the down arrow to display the names of the HMI servers that are available, and then click one to select it.
- ClickFinish. A new HMI server is added to the Explorer window of the application and the project components of the selected HMI project are added to it. The new HMI server is given the name of the existing HMI server.
Remarks
- An HMI server name can contain a maximum of 32 characters. It can contain alphanumeric characters, spaces, and underscores.
- The name for any area, data server, or HMI server should be unique in the application.
- Areas are displayed in the Explorer window in alphabetical order. In an application that contains areas and data servers at the same level, the areas are listed before the data servers, with the areas and data servers listed in alphabetical order. If data servers and an HMI server are at the same level in the explorer, the data servers are listed in alphabetical order, before the HMI server.
- To migrate an RSView32 project to a FactoryTalk View Site Edition network distributed application, do not use the Attach option. Instead, create a new HMI server by importing the project. To do this, select 'Import a project' in the Select Operation window of the Add HMI Server Wizard. Then in the Import Project window, select RSView32 as the project type and specify the path to the RSView32 project file.
- If you attach an HMI server that is earlier than version 7.0 and contains trends withFactoryTalk Historian SEpens:
- The Trend is NOT converted to the new version after the HMI server is attached. After copying the HMI server, you must open the Display (in design mode) that contains the olderFactoryTalk Historian SEpens and the pens will be converted to the newer version.
- If there is more than oneFactoryTalk Historian SEserver configured in FactoryTalk Directory when importing, the firstFactoryTalk Historian SEserver name will be saved into the Model name (on the Pens tab) as <FactoryTalk Historian SEserver name>.
- If there are noFactoryTalk Historian SEservers configured inFactoryTalk Directory, the Trend version will be converted to the new version but theFactoryTalk Historianserver name will not be saved and the Model name is NULL (on the Pens tab).
