IP Address | Used to select the IP address of the Ethernet driver that will listen to data. By default, an Ethernet driver in FactoryTalk Linx attempts to listen on all IP addresses assigned to the workstation, and the Ethernet network browse executes a subnet broadcast over all network interface cards associated with the workstation. If you want an Ethernet driver to attempt to listen only on one specific IP address, and if you want the browse that is associated with that driver to broadcast only on that IP address's subnet, then click on that IP address.Tip: The selection of a specific IP address is not compatible with DHCP due to the fact that DHCP may reassign the IP address. If multiple IP addresses are assigned to a single NIC (Network Interface Card), then any other EtherNet/IP application offering similar configurability could be associated with a different IP address. The workstation would thus appear more than once in the EtherNet/IP browse, with each application displaying independently under its own IP address. Tip: Be careful when using the Copy from Design to Runtime button in the FactoryTalk Linx Communication Setup editor. When a configuration containing an Ethernet driver associated with a specific IP address is applied to a workstation for which that IP address is invalid, the Ethernet driver will not listen on the EtherNet/IP encapsulation ports, and thus will not show up in a browse. |
MAC Address | Multiple IP addresses can be assigned to a single NIC. |
Listen on EtherNet/IP encapsulated ports | Used to enable or disable the Ethernet driver to listen on the Ethernet/IP UDP and TCP ports, and thus be visible during a browse. Tip:
