Unsuppress alarms

Unsuppress an alarm that was previously suppressed if that alarm now needs to be monitored again. For example, an operator might have suppressed an alarm because the alarm was caused by another alarm that an operator was already working on.
An unacknowledged suppressed alarm is displayed in the Alarm and Event Summary. To unsuppress a suppressed alarm, use the Alarm Status Explorer.
The ability to suppress or unsuppress an alarm is controlled by
FactoryTalk Security
.
To unsuppress alarms in an application or area, you need the following security permissions for the application or area:
  • Common > Read
    (required to list the alarm in the application or area)
  • Common > List Children
    (required to list the alarm in the application or area)
  • Alarming > Suppress
To unsuppress an alarm
  1. On the toolbar, click the
    Display the Alarm Status Explorer
    Toolbar_ShowAlarmStatusExplorer button or right-click an alarm and click
    Alarm Status
    .
  2. From the
    Alarm Status Explorer
    window, select the alarm or alarms you want to unsuppress, and then click the
    Unsuppress selected alarm
    BUTTON_Unsuppress_selected_alarm_source toolbar button.
    TIP:
    The Alarm and Event Summary can be configured to hide the
    Unsuppress selected alarm
    toolbar button, which also hides the equivalent operation on the context (shortcut) menu.
