Add a FactoryTalk Linx server

Add a
FactoryTalk Linx
server to add references to device servers within applications to an application or an area.
To access both tag values and alarm and event values from a
ControlLogix®
processor, use direct references to the processor through a
Rockwell Automation
Device Server (
FactoryTalk Linx
).
Prerequisites
Adding a
FactoryTalk Linx
server requires these permissions for the application or area:
  • Common > Create Children
  • Common > Write
  • Common > Read
To add a
FactoryTalk Linx
server

    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer

    Device Server (
    FactoryTalk Linx
    )

    Redundancy

    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    , expand the
    FactoryTalk Linx
    device server, right-click
    Communication Setup
    and select
    Open
. The content pane displays these areas:
    • Device Shortcuts
    • Primary tab
    • Offline Tag File
  7. On the
    Primary
tab add the devices from which the application will receive data.
  8. In
    Device Shortcuts
    , use

    OK.
    TIP:
When setting up a device shortcut in
    FactoryTalk Linx
specify an offline tag file to use an offline copy of the tags in the controller when the controller is unavailable.
