Set user permissions for alarm and recipe actions
To acknowledge and shelve an alarm, and to view and download a recipe, user permissions need to be set in
FactoryTalk Security
.To set alarm and recipe permissions
- Open the application inFactoryTalk View Studio.
- In theExplorerwindow, right-click the application or area name and selectSecurity.
- In theSecurity Settingsdialog box, on thePermissionstab, do one of the following:
- Set permissions by user:
- Select theUseroption.
- From theUserslist, select a user or group.
- From theActionlist, expandAlarmingand select an action for alarm actions, or expandand select an action for recipe actions.FactoryTalk View SE
- Set permissions by action:
- Select theActionoption.
- From theActionlist, expandAlarmingand select an action for alarm actions, or expandand select an action for recipe actions.FactoryTalk View SE
- From theUserslist, select a user or group.
- Select theAlloworDenycheckbox. Clear both checkboxes to make the application inherit its security settings from thefolder.FactoryTalk Directory
- (optional) To control access to the action by another user or group, clickAdd, and in theSelect User or Groupdialog box, select the user or group, and clickOK.
- When you have finished setting user permissions, clickOK.

TIP:
When a user signs in,
FactoryTalk ViewPoint
checks the user permissions for alarm
and recipe actions in FactoryTalk Security
.When no user signs in:
- IfAll Usershas permissions inFactoryTalk Security, alarm and recipe actions are allowed.
- IfAll Usershas no permissions inFactoryTalk Security, alarm and recipe actions are not allowed.
