Meanings of the Event Log column headings
The Event Log appears by default whenever you open the
Logs
tab. Event records are generated by FactoryTalk-enabled products.New log records appear bold. Once you select a log record to show its details in the
Log Item Details
pane at the bottom of the tab, the log entry no long appears bold.The column headings of the Event Log include:
- Paper clip icon
Whether a file is associated with the event record. A file attached to the Event Log can include additional information about the event record. A paper clip indicates that a file is available. If a file is available for a selected record, a paper clip button also appears in the upper-right corner of theLog Item Detailspane. You can show file attachments and troubleshooting information. - Logged TimeThe date and time that the FactoryTalk AssetCentre database received report of this event from the software product.The Logged Time and Occurred Time may be different if you disconnect from the network while FactoryTalk AssetCentre caches data, or if the time on the server is different than the time on your computer.
- Occurred TimeThe date and time when the software product records the message as having originated.The Logged Time and Occurred Time may be different if you disconnect from the network while FactoryTalk AssetCentre caches data, or if the time on the server is different than the time on your computer.
- SourceThe name of the software product that logged the event.
- LocationThe name of the computer on which the event took place.
- SeverityA symbol indicating the severity of the event:
Warning. An event published by the system components when something unexpected occurs and needs attention, but is not critical or fatal in nature.
Error. An event published by the system components when an error occurs during system operation, needs attention, and could be critical or fatal.
Information. An event published by the system components to provide an informational message about the system or tasks.
- MessageDetailed information about the event such as the type of event (for example, upload), status, hardware involved and so forth. A summary of the message appears in the list. The full message appears in theLog Item Detailspane at the bottom of the tab.
