Extract event log attachments
Use FactoryTalk AssetCentre Event Log Attachment Extractor to extract the event log
attachments.
To extract event log attachments
- In theOutput locationbox, enter a local or network path to save the event log attachments, or click the browse button to specify the path.
- Specify user credentials to use.
- To use credentials of the currently logged-on user, select theIntegrated securitycheckbox.
- To specify credentials of a user, who is allowed to write to the output location:IMPORTANT:For the initial setup, use Windows Credential Manager to add user credentials, which is required only once each user account. Once configured, you can update or change your user credentials within this tool. The user credentials in Windows Credential Manager are user-specific and cannot be carried over between different user accounts.The scheduled operations via Windows Task Scheduler cannot work until you create your user credentials correctly in Windows Credential Manager.
- Clear theIntegrated securitycheckbox.
- From theStartmenu, findCredential Manager.
- SelectWindows Credentials.
- SelectAdd a generic credential.
- In theInternet or network addressbox, enter RA.FTAC.EventLogAttachmentExtractor.Windows.
- In theUser namebox, enter the sign-in ID.
- In thePasswordbox, enter the password.
- SelectOK.
- ClickTest connectionto verify whether the user name and password are authenticated to write to the output location.
- In theSQL Server namebox, enter the name or IP address of the computer running theSQL Server.
- In theDatabase namebox, enter theFactoryTalk AssetCentredatabase name in theSQL Server. The default database name isAssetCentre.
- From theAuthenticationlist, specify which authentication to use.
- To use credentials of the currently logged-on user, selectUse Windows Authentication.
- To specify administrator credentials of a database server:IMPORTANT:For the initial setup, use Windows Credential Manager to add user credentials, which is required only once each user account. - SelectUse SQL Server Authentication.
- From theStartmenu, findCredential Manager.
- SelectWindows Credentials.
- SelectAdd a generic credential.
- In theInternet or network addressbox, enter RA.FTAC.EventLogAttachmentExtractor.SQLServer.
- In theUser namebox, enter the username for the database server administrator.
- In thePasswordbox, enter the password for the database server administrator.
- SelectOK.
- In theConnection timeoutbox, specify the maximum time duration for which a test connection operation is completed. The value must be an integer from 0 through 600. The default value is 15 seconds.
- ClickStart. A progress bar shows at the bottom of the dialog.
- When the operation is completed, the event log attachments and the operation report file are saved at the specified output location.
- ClickCloseto exit.
